What We Love On Internet

Monday morning, Sydney CBD, three cups of steaming-hot coffee and a few words on the week end:
- G'day, mates, happy to be back at 287, Elizabeth Street
- It's getting cold, in Sydney
- Yeah but it's still nice, I went surfing, yesterday

Cross-network Data: Portability Is The Best For Users

Do you have a Facebook account?
What's in it? Your pictures, your personal information, your friends list...?
Ehy, we said 'your' three times. It sounds like that data belongs to you.
And what's up if you go somewhere else?
Can you take your data with you?
Google says yesFacebook says no (not completely, at least). And that's why they are arguing.

Facebook Connect

Facebook announced today Facebook Connect: the newest step of Facebook Platform, a data portability tool allowing users to 'connect' one's Facebook identity, friends and privacy to any site.
This will enable users to authenticate to PeopleBrowsr using their Facebook username and password and to immediately see their Facebook friends and data in the Gallery and stream views.
Also, users authenticating to PeopleBrowsr through any other ID will be able to add their Facebook identity to their cross-network web persona.
Thanks Facebook.

@Search Function: So Powerful

Looking for someone?Want to know who's talking to that person, what people say about him or her, want to see their 'PBID'?Good news: that's all public stuff.

Today we integrated a great FriendFinder feature.
Once the user enters @Username in the search box and presses 'GO':
The Grid populates with people talking to or about the searched user.
Passing the mouse over avatars, speech bubbles show the posts mentioning that username.
The 'PBID' appears on the screen, containing a world of info and links to that user's web persona.

Want to search for email? The FriendFinder works also with email addresses.
It's possible to enter any email address into the search bar and get a 'PBID' showing all the online IDs related to that address.

Try it, it's powerful.

Twitter Short Code

'Ups! PeopleBrowsr links on Twitter are ugly!'
That's what I (Priscilla) came out with, this morning.
Why ugly? Because they were long, and they looked messy and they were not clear and way-waaay too big in font size.
After grumbling a bit, the guys made me happy: they built in minutes the Twitter short code. Now, when you post a tweet from PeopleBrowsr, the 'from PeopleBrowsr' link is cute and tiny. Look:
Well done, Team.
