Newport Capital Presentation

At a breakfast held at the Marriott Hotel in Sydney, Jodee Rich shares his insights on leveraging social media networking as a part of brand marketing.

Jodee speaks about the evolution of communication; from the jungle, to spoken language, to written language and to today’s social media cloud of rich data.

Explaining how technology has helped us share information and how we can now make this data persistent, Jodee says that we are now able to store a lot of data -- creating a real-time historical record.

Twitter Trends: Airline Hotlist August 2009

As Twitter adoption travels from the left to the right of Rogers’Diffusion of InnovationsBell Curve, mainstream consumer behavior gathers momentum, manifesting into influential and telling market indicators. This invaluable behavior and sentiment eventually becomes deafening and without actively monitoring and analyzing this movement, we miss opportunities to learn, grow, and help.

We need a prescribed lens into the real-time thoughts, observations, and experiences of real people, unfiltered, to make informed decisions and both lead and evolve along with our markets.

On deck with Tweetdeck? The Power is in the Browser! PeopleBrowsr FTW!

Why I switched from Tweetdeck to PeopleBrowsr

A lot of you have been asking and quietly wondering why I’ve switched from Tweetdeck to PeopleBrowsr. Rather than trying to explain this over and over, I’m going to give you a comparison right here. The fact of the matter is that there’s too much in PeopleBrowsr to actually put into a single tweet!

Many of you know that I’m something of a power tweeter. I send a lot of tweets out, and I spend a lot of time paying attention to a lot more. When I’m tweeting a lot I tend to want to talk to many many different people. Social networking is all about engaging with the people you meet online, and if you’re following as many people as I am it’s a huge challenge to see what they’re doing.

Why Jean fell in love with PeopleBrowsr

Grouping
I learned from @ValdisKrebs that I am a connector and a boundary spanner. So I was already using Twitter to follow people from many different networks that interest me. But it was getting hard to get what I needed from a single stream. PeopleBrowsr allows me to tag-group my different networks. When I am focused on a philanthropy project, I can give more attention to my philanthropy tag-group. As PeopleBrowsr grows, I can find other people that have been tagged with philanthropy too, growing my information guides and conversation partners. As a member of Guildsmiths.com, I grouped all the guildsmiths, so I can see what my collaborators are discussing. I can and have also sent messages to all the people within a group when I have an announcement, celebration, or link that I want a select group to be sure to see. (I can't wait to use this as a conference organizer!)
